Life is beautiful,
So they say.
But life is cruel
Every day.
People die,
Others get hurt,
Others lie
And cheat and flirt.
Each day hearts
So pure and clear,
Break in parts;
Refuse to heal!
While their victims
Cry and sigh,
The offenders
Quickly fly.
A new heart
They find intact,
And begin a new attack.
Why they do this
None can say.
A strange impulse
They obey.
And though many hearts they take,
Miserable their owners make,
Though their hearts are often fake,
Even they do sometimes break.
Oftentimes it's those in pieces
That are found to be the meanest.

Dreams of the Past
I dream of days without rain,
Of sunny hours without pain,
I dream of nights full of snow
And rivers froz'n'n their flow.
I dream of the old things I knew,
When time, oh! how slowly it flew!
When things were so grand and so new,
And happiness sprang from the dew.
I dream of hills full of flowers,
Of building great sand castle towers,
Of picking white flowers all day,
Of feeling the ocean's white spray.
I dream of days long ago,
Of desperately wishing to go
To school to learn all there's to know,
And sitting at desks in a row.
Of things I held close and most dear;
Of Christmases filled with good cheer;
Of spring and of summer
Melancholy days
Drift by
In melancholy ways;
As inside, you cry.
Melancholy hours
With their strange dark powers
Slip by coldly
And you are lonely.
Melancholy minutes
Whispering like crickets
Fill your heart with sadness,
Bring you close to madness.
Melancholy seconds;
Your life ever beckons
To come away
Into the light of day.
Melancholy nights,
Staring at star-lights.
Now you cry for real
Showing how you feel.
Melancholy years
Full of doubts and fears.
When you're looking backward,
How can you go forward?
Melancholy time,
I shall not be thine.
When I rest today,
You'll be far away!
White snow is falling softly,
From white-gray clouds so lofty,
Who've cried with stary frozen tears
For many months and many years.
The wind, it howls through all the streets
And everyone on its way it greets
With a swift punch of snow and sleet
And nearly knocks them off their feet.
The cold is bitting,
But we go out fighting!
Covering ears and nose and toes
With many, many layers of clothes.
I sit inside beside the fire
And gaze outside; I never tire
To watch in wonder nature's way
As it paints the world in just one day!
On days like these I always say
"Im in a snowglobe!" And today,
Our globe was shaken really well,
And
My heart is like a black hole,
It sucks all life from my soul,
No happiness can there be found
Though happiness is all around.
Nature rejoices with the spring
As flowers and grass together they bring.
The sun is happy in the sky
As closer and closer he swings by.
The air is birght and full of hope
And lovers all over plan to elope.
Yet I am filled with a black hole,
Which sucks up all life and swallows it whole.
It blinds me to all those things which I know
Would normally make me marvel and glow.
The things that I loved to do before
Have now become much worse than a chore.

Is there a path that we must follow,
A secret dance whose foreign step
Can lead two hearts away from sorrow
Into the light that they both kept
Away from prying eyes
and lies
both told and heard throughout the years.
Away from fears,
where an unpainted face
can say with the innocence of a child
in a voice both warm and mild:
"Can I stay with you my friend?
Will you be here till the end?
I will trust you now and ever,
But I won't promise forever.
Love's a thing that cannot die,
But forever is a lie.
Do not promise me forever,
For you know I'm much too clever.
Hold my hand and tell me sweetly,
'I think that you're really p

Too many great ones to name but I've had Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet on my mind lately
